Sharon Middle and High School will be moving to full virtual instruction status beginning tomorrow, Thursday, April 22, 2021 and return to in-person instruction on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. This move is being made following consultation with the PA Department of Health and is due to a continued spike in the number of positive COVID-19 cases that have been reported by individuals within the building. The parents of any student who may have been in close contact with an infected individual have been notified and those students have been placed on quarantine. The building will be isolated for 24 hours and then undergo a complete deep clean before the students and staff return for instruction. Students have been asked to take their Chromebooks and chargers home today. If they did not do so, please reach out to your child’s teacher for direction. Due to this move to virtual all activities at the Middle/High School have been suspended and will reactivate on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. Please be reminded that meals will still be provided at the Middle/High School at no charge between 9:45 and 10:15 am each school day for those wishing to participate.

The PA Public Utility Commission (PUC) has created the Advance Education Brochure explaining the soon-to-be-implemented Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) program. The EBB gives qualifying households money to buy internet service or equipment to use the internet if they are eligible. This program should be of particular interest to parents of school age students (Free or Reduced Lunch makes a household eligible), and students attending colleges and universities (Pell Grant recipients are eligible). This program is not yet activated. However, the funding is expected to go quickly and will be administered on a first come/first served basis. More information about this program is also available on the FCC’s webpage at www.fcc.gov.

If a student wants to be vaccinated – students are limited to Pfizer – UPMC offers clinics at the Shenango Valley Mall in the old Sears store every Wednesday. Clinics run until 3:45. Case Avenue, Middle School and High School parents and guardians. Please be informed that parking at Marco's Pizza Shop is no longer permitted. As I mentioned in my post from February 22, 2021, the manager of the store had asked for cooperation when parking in the lot, using only limited spots and not allowing students to run between cars etc. Unfortunately, this has not happened, and there has since been an accident and an child injured. Therefore, beginning immediately, cars parking in the lot at drop off and dismissal will be ticketed and towed. We thank the staff at Marco's for their willingness to try and resolve this issue prior to having to make this decision.
