Drinking Water Safety (PA Act 39 of 2018)

The Sharon City School District undertook a comprehensive testing of all potable (drinking, cooking and dish washing) water sources within the City schools during the 2018-19 school year. The Pennsylvania Public School Code was amended in June of 2018 (Act 39 of 2018) to encourage schools to test for lead in their drinking water and implement a plan for remediation if the results exceeded the U. E. Environmental Protection Agency's national primary drinking water standard on 15 parts per billion. This law was effective beginning with the 2018-19 school year.

The District tested all primary and secondary drinking water sources, including fountains, classroom bubbler units, food service sinks and any water source used for drinking, cooking or cleaning of dishes or eating utensils. We are pleased to report that 100% of the potable water sources tested far exceeded the EPA national drinking water standards for safe, clean water.

Test results are available for review at the Office of the Superintendent.
