Climate Initiative

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Sharon Middle/High School Climate Initiative is a primary focus the 2020-2021 school year. The Climate Team is working to address the needs of our students, parents, teachers and community members to continue our efforts of climate change in the middle and high school. After review of data of the climate survey and meeting with student focus groups, we have established the following goals to impact a climate change:

  1. To develop a student advocacy team for grades 7-12 providing the opportunity for students to have a voice and drive change in the educational system.

  2. To develop and establish a mentoring program for students in grades 7 and 8 to aide in support of the transition from elementary to middle school. The mentoring program can address the following: academic success, increasing attendance, decreasing discipline referrals and social and emotional well-being. Students will be provided a teacher mentor and/or a student mentor depending on the level of intervention needed.

The staff at Sharon M/HS is dedicated to the current and previous goals of our action plan in order to continue our efforts for positive change, including increasing family engagement. Be on the lookout for the Weekly Happenings page!  It is updated weekly and posted as well as posted daily to our website!

Yours in Education,

Mr. Fitzgerald, Mrs. Blair and Dr. Richards
