Sharon Family Center

The Sharon Family Center was established to work with parents and their children: To support children and their families by emphasizing positive child development, encouraging economic self-sufficiency, connecting families to needed services, and establishing an early positive link between families and schools.

The Sharon Family Center works with children and adults with:

  • Personalized home visits by certified Family Development Specialist, trained in the Parents As Teachers curriculum
  • Group meetings/play groups with other parents offering support, socialization, and information; a time when you can share parenting experiences, gain new insights, and discuss topics important to parents
  • Child health and developmental screenings to ensure that your child has no undetected learning, sensory(hearing or vision) or developmental problems
  • Information on positive child development, home safety, constructive play, effective discipline and more
  • A community-wide referral network for services available to children and families; such as health insurance, adult education and health care
  • Pre-school program for three, four and five year old children in Sharon to prepare them for the district program
