Please note that all district owned electronic devices will be disposed of by our IT department. Please submit a work order through our online system directions below.Beginning January 24, 2013 a disposal ban on all covered technology devices goes into effect in Pennsylvania. From this point forward, no person may dispose of a covered device, or any of its components, with municipal solid waste. These devices and their components must be properly recycled and may not be taken to, nor accepted by, landfills or other solid waste disposal facilitates for disposal. However, non-hazardous residuals of covered devices that are produced during the recycling of those devices are excluded from the disposal ban. The effects of the disposal ban are outlined below:
· Businesses may not dispose of their covered devices with municipal waste and will need to recycle their covered devices. All recycling facilities must be properly certified.
· Consumers may not dispose of their covered devices with municipal waste and will need to recycle their covered devices at an approved recycling center.
· Haulers may not accept covered devices for disposal from any source.
Covered devices include: Desktop computers, laptop computers, net books, tablet devices, computer monitors, computer peripherals (keyboards, mice, wires, plugs, etc.), cell phones and televisions.
